Homes built in the 80s and 90s
Most Carindale houses are big, solidly built family homes. Their wiring is generally in reasonable shape, but it is now 30 to 45 years old and was designed for a very different household. Common issues we see include:
- Switchboards with limited RCD protection and no spare room for new circuits
- Halogen downlights that run hot and fail often
- Air conditioning added room by room over the years on whatever circuit was handy
- Pool equipment on ageing timers and outdoor outlets exposed to the weather
Individually these are easy fixes. Together they usually point to a switchboard upgrade and a tidy-up of the circuits so the house is safe and ready for what comes next.
Pools and outdoor areas
Pools are common in Carindale, and so are the electrical problems that come with them. Pool pumps, chlorinators, heat pumps and lighting all need correctly protected circuits, and the area around the pool has specific zone requirements under AS/NZS 3000. Cooling a two-storey home
Upstairs bedrooms in a brick two-storey house get hot in a Brisbane summer. Many owners are adding split systems or moving to ducted air conditioning. Each system needs a dedicated circuit and an isolator, and several units together can push an older board to its limit. We assess the load before installation so the air conditioning does not end up tripping the house.
Lighting upgrades
Swapping old halogen downlights for LED is one of the most requested jobs in Carindale. It reduces heat in the ceiling, cuts running costs and fixes the constant bulb changes. While we are in the roof we can check the condition of the wiring and connections, and add outdoor and garden lighting if you want it.

Shop fit-outs inside a major centre follow the centre management’s design and contractor requirements, including approved hours, inductions and certification at handover. Storms in Brisbane’s east
Summer storms regularly roll through the eastern suburbs. If your power trips during a storm and will not reset, or you notice burning smells or damaged fittings afterward, switch off at the main switch and call a licensed electrician rather than resetting repeatedly.
Surge protection fitted at the main switchboard can help protect sensitive electronics such as TVs, computers, pool controllers and inverters. It is a straightforward addition when a board is being upgraded anyway, and we can advise whether it suits your home.
