How we fit into a builder’s program
On a construction job the electrical package touches almost every other trade. We need to be in early for underground conduits and slab penetrations, back for rough-in once the frame or blockwork is up, and again for fit-off after the ceilings and paint are done. Missing any of those windows holds up the trades behind us.
We plan our labour against your program, not the other way around. If the program moves, tell us and we’ll adjust. We’d rather have an honest conversation about a date early than turn up to a site that isn’t ready, or leave a gap that the plasterers are waiting on.
From temporary power to final fit-off
Our construction electrical work covers the full life of a build. Typical stages include:
- Temporary builders’ supply, site boards and site shed power
- Consumer mains, underground conduits and pit work
- Slab and in-wall conduit, cable tray and containment
- Rough-in of power, lighting, data and security cabling
- Main switchboards and distribution boards
- Fit-off, testing and commissioning
On larger jobs we coordinate with the supply authority for new connections and metering, and with the mechanical, fire and hydraulic contractors so our services don’t clash with theirs in the ceiling space. Where a job needs a new main board or submains, our commercial switchboard work is scoped as part of the package.
Site safety and the paperwork that goes with it
Every site has its own induction, rules and permits, and we work within them. We provide a SWMS for high-risk work such as working at heights, near live parts or in trenches, and we can work to your ITP where the project requires hold points and sign-offs.
Our site leads are used to daily prestarts, permit-to-work systems, isolation and lock-out procedures and keeping work areas tidy. Our own tools and leads are kept tested, and we can provide test and tag for site equipment if you need it done. Drawings, variations and design changes
We price from the electrical drawings and specification, and we’ll flag anything that doesn’t add up before we start, such as missing circuits, clashes with other services or equipment that’s been superseded. It’s cheaper to sort those out on paper than on site.
When the design changes, we price the variation in writing before the work is done, so you can approve it or push back. We keep marked-up drawings through the job so the as-built set at the end reflects what’s actually in the walls.
Handover documentation
Practical completion depends on paperwork as much as installed work. At handover we provide the documents the certifier, the client and the future facility manager will ask for, including:
- Certificate of testing and compliance for the installation to AS/NZS 3000
- Test results for circuits, RCDs and earthing
- As-built drawings and switchboard schedules
- Commissioning records for emergency and exit lighting to AS/NZS 2293
- Equipment data sheets and warranty information from manufacturers

What we need to price your job
Send us the electrical drawings, specification, the program and any tender documents. Let us know the builder’s preliminaries we need to allow for, such as site hours, parking, amenities and cranage. If the job is at design and construct stage, we can help with electrical input on load, supply size and switchboard location before the drawings are finalised.
