The rules that have applied to rentals and homes being sold since 2022 extend to every home in Queensland from 1 January 2027, including owner-occupied houses and units.
Alarms must be photoelectric, interconnected, and either hardwired or powered by a 10-year lithium battery. They need to be in every bedroom, in hallways that connect bedrooms, and on every storey.

- Are all your alarms photoelectric (not ionisation)?
- Are they less than 10 years old?
- When one sounds, do they all sound?
- Is there one in every bedroom?
- Is there one in the hallway outside the bedrooms?
- Is there one on every level of the home?

What areas do you cover?
We’re based in Mudgeeraba and work right across the Gold Coast, south over the border to Tweed Heads, Kingscliff, Byron Bay and Ballina, and north through Logan to Brisbane. See our service areas for the full list.
Do you do both commercial and residential work?
Yes. On the commercial side we do fit-outs, builder packages, switchboards, maintenance, emergency lighting, test and tag and data. On the residential side we do everything from a new power point to a full rewire, switchboard upgrade or new home. Start at commercial or residential.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We’re a licensed electrical contractor and carry insurance for the work we do. Licence details are listed on our licences and insurance page, and every job is tested and certified.
How do quotes work?
Send us the details through the quote form with a few photos if you can. For small jobs we can often price from photos. For bigger jobs we’ll arrange a site visit. Either way you get a written quote that sets out the scope before any work starts.
Does my home need new smoke alarms before 2027?
From 1 January 2027 every home in Queensland needs photoelectric, interconnected smoke alarms in every bedroom, in hallways connecting bedrooms and on every storey. Many older homes don’t meet this yet. Our smoke alarm page explains what’s required.
Can you work around our business hours?
Yes. For shops, offices, clinics and hospitality venues we regularly plan work early, late or on weekends so trading isn’t disrupted. Shutdowns are planned and communicated in advance.
