Salt air and electrical gear
If you live or run a business near the beach at Burleigh, you’ve probably seen what the air does to metal. Outdoor power points, light fittings, meter boxes, air conditioning isolators and even switchboard enclosures corrode much faster here than in the western suburbs. The damage isn’t just cosmetic. Corroded terminals get hot, loosen and cause faults, and water can track into fittings that have lost their seals.
When we replace outdoor gear in Burleigh, we choose fittings with suitable IP ratings and corrosion resistance, seal entries properly and place things where they’re less exposed where possible. Our article on salt air corrosion explains what to watch for.
Cafes, restaurants and the dining strip
Burleigh’s food and bar scene keeps growing, and hospitality tenancies are some of the most electrically demanding spaces we work in. Commercial kitchens need dedicated circuits for ovens, fryers, dishwashers and refrigeration, plus exhaust fans and good lighting. Front of house needs feature lighting, power for POS and coffee machines, and exit signs.
We work on new hospitality fit-outs and on existing venues that need more capacity or a lighting refresh. Downtime costs money in hospitality, so we plan work around trading hours and do as much as possible before or after service. Have a look at our hospitality page for the details.
Old beach houses, rebuilds and renovations
Burleigh still has plenty of older fibro and weatherboard homes, alongside newer architect-designed builds and duplexes that have replaced them. For the older homes, typical findings include:
- Original switchboards with rewireable fuses and no safety switches
- Rubber or early PVC wiring that has become brittle
- Too few power points, with double adaptors everywhere
- Corroded outdoor fittings and meter boxes
If you’re buying or renovating, an electrical safety inspection tells you what you’re dealing with before you commit. For full renovations, we work with owners and builders on new homes and renovations, including rough-in, fit-off and lighting design.
Apartments on the beachfront
The apartment buildings along the esplanade and around the headland need ongoing electrical maintenance. For body corporates, that means common area lighting, emergency lighting testing, switchroom checks and repairs to salt-damaged outdoor gear. For owners renovating a unit, it means working within building rules, organising isolation with the building manager and keeping noise and mess down.
Many of these buildings also need smoke alarm upgrades inside individual units before the 2027 deadline, and owners of holiday lets usually want it done between bookings. We can plan the work around your calendar.
A regular run from Mudgeeraba
Burleigh is an easy trip down from our base, so we’re here often. For hospitality clients and body corporates, that makes it practical to set up regular maintenance visits rather than waiting for things to fail. For homeowners, it means quote visits are easy to arrange. Send photos of the job or book a quote visit, and we’ll give you a clear written price before any work starts.
